"Serendipity - a happy chance finding. This is how I would describe my dealings with Brigitte Kunkel-Griffin, her husband Jim and German Property Services.

I was impressed when I first visited their web site early in 2008, they seemed to offer every conceivable service I was likely to require as a non German speaker relocating to Germany from England. I was not disappointed. I made an early contact using ‘we search for you’- it was very much a tentative contact as I had not even put my house up for sale at that time. I received a prompt response which included details of properties which may suit my requirements. As luck would have it, my house sold quickly and I was in a position to proceed with my relocation plans in June 2008. I had an initial meeting with Brigitte to discuss and confirm my requirements.

Within days viewings had been arranged. Every house I viewed met my criteria, so there was no time wasted on either my side, as a potential buyer, or the seller’s. I found my ideal house as a result and the rest, as they say, is history. I took possession of my new home on 4th September 2008.

As promised on their web site, I received a very personal service as part of their “carefree package” for buyers. A bank account opened, all legal requirements were arranged, full translations were provided, and Brigitte accompanied and guided me through the complete purchase and registration processes. In addition she arranged for my furniture to be transported to Germany and accompanied me when I purchased new.

My friends thought I was ’very brave’ relocating and I expected some stress to be involved in my move, however, thanks to Brigitte and Jim, and German Property Services any concerns were groundless. I cannot praise them enough and, from personal experience, I can state that their web site is a truthful and accurate representation of their service provision. They continue to provide me with support and assistance for which I am truly grateful. "

"We stumbled across this company, whilst searching for a Mosel holiday /retirement home on an international property website. We instantly struck up a great relationship with the proprietor - Brigitte Kunkel-Griffin and her husband Jim.

Brigitte speaks perfect English - she is 100% straight, totally trustworthy and very reliable. She also knows her market very well indeed, so take her advice!

In searching for our ideal home we found Brigitte willing to help us, even on properties that were not in her own portfolio.

We now have a house just 20 meters from the Mosel, in an ideal location for access to town. It is perfect for our needs. We didn’t find the house ourselves – Brigitte found it for us. Not only did she help us find and purchase a property but her after care in dealing with household bills, insurance, tax and a multitude of other queries has been invaluable. We could not have managed without her.

If you need re-assurance about this company, call us anytime. Brigitte has our number.

Her office is in the centre of Zell, half way between the towns of Cochem and Bernkastel – on the sunniest and most beautiful stretch of river in all of Germany. "

"We can not recommend German Properties and their services highly enough if you are thinking of buying a house in this area. They have been absolutely invaluable to us in our purchase of
our holiday home in Germany.

We did not actually buy the house through their agency, although we wish we had as this would have saved us a lot of trouble. We found our house through another agent before we discovered them. After discussing all the services they would provide us with we decided to use them and so approached them to only buy their after sales 12 months service. This was the best decision we have ever made!

Our German is not very good. It’s good enough to order a beer , some wine or some food, but to buy a house and all that goes with it, it is completely inadequate! Their representatives' English is excellent though and they have made the whole process so easy for us. They have been there with us helping and guiding us every step of the way. They translated the Notary contract, attended the meeting with the Notary with us to help with translations and explanations.

They have dealt with all manner of queries for us with the sellers - who have clearly appreciated being able to speak to a German speaker for this - They measured and drew up plans of each room for us, advised us the on type of furniture, put us in touch with an English speaking salesperson at a major furniture retailer and they even went furniture shopping with us to help us.

They also arranged for us to open a German bank account and attended the bank with us to finalize this. They are also arranging the transfer of all utilities to our name. They have arranged plumbers, electricians and decorators to offer us quotes for work we want done. And they have even helped us with our website design and structure. And when a major problem with our purchase arose which almost prevented the sale from completing they stepped in and sorted everything out for us.

As we say, we can not recommend German Properties and their services to you strongly enough. If you are thinking of buying a house in the Mosel, Rhine, Hunsrueck or Eifel areas then we are confident you will not regret using them and like us you will probably think it was the best decision you ever made."

Detached house with granny flat

"We decided to emigrate to Germany and leave The Netherlands as soon as the original house in Holland was sold. Reasons therefore were for instance:

• The house price level at Holland

• The crowds and enormous big daily traffic queues in Holland now

• The bad mentality there

• The taxes climate in Holland

• The loss of all social feelings and contacts in The Netherlands

We approached different brokers online and visited “Vogelberg” in Germany. We did like the landscape. We could not find a house there that fulfilled our price and performance expectations. Then we found German Property Service on the “ M.Schmaldt Immobilien” website and they offered:

• The beauty of “Hunsrueck” and Eifel

• Support from the start till the end of the selling / installing process

• Understand and speak fluently German and English

We met in December 2006 their representatives and visited about twenty houses in the price range. There were only one or two that fulfilled our requirements. After we made up our choice: They accompanied us from the beginning till the end at a pretty, human and free way:

• We went to the notary with him

• We went to the insurance with him

• We went to the bank with him

• We went to the tax consult and ... a.s.o.

• They gave us reply and advise at many, many questions

Even though Germany and Holland are near the procedures are completely different. We absolutely would not have been able to do this job in four months without them!! Of course we would have been able if we had been young and flexible enough in more than one year, but that was for us no option.

Therefore we are happy to recommend these people to anybody from the EU that think of emigration to Germany. Our comment is: THANKS to German Properties."
